What a day! Photos to follow with the bouncy castle, and visit and demo for the fire brigade. Many thanks to Humberside Fire Brigade for their effort and time, as well as publicising the dangers of fire in a fun way.
We are to distribute leaflets about the free issue of smoke detectors and other helpful hints to all parents and staff.
In addition to a great day we raised over £400 for the special care baby unit, which we will deliver.
(As an aside - a comnpany manager from Hull who uses the nursery was willing to accept our opinion as to a charity that they can support this September.)
The result: a fund-raising event that we expect to raise around £2,000 for the Salvation Army in Hull.
We would like to pass on lots of thanks for all the hard work and time put in by both teams, from Hull and Hessle. That included:
- coercing prizes from lots of organisations (full list here soon)
- making cakes the night before
- writing off to many companies
- involving family members in assisting this good cause
- giving away personal items of value to raffle
We must make a special mention of Dianne Boynton - who gave moral support to us all, despite being off ill.
Thanks to all our staff for giving up their day for such a good cause.
It would not have been the same without the added support of a very large and generous group of parents from both sites nurseries. Thanks to you all!
Not least, and not solely, but the drive and determination of the senior staff members of Hessle and Hull, Kelly Tasker and Michelle Priest, who showed such leadership, interest, commitment and determination - which is valuable in any organisation.
A major plus is that we are able to direct another parent and his company to support another charity - the Salvation Army, who may well benefit to the tune of £2,000 this September. Details to follow.
