Staff awards for Hull and Hessle

Our staff award goes to Dianne Boynton

The people in the photo are from left to right:
Ann van Spall (director), Christine Ashton (deputy supervisor at Hessle), Gill Smith (general manager of Lilliput Lodge), Dianne Boynton (rooms supervisor, Hull) and Carol Rawlings (nursery nurse assistant).

The staff in Hessle meet monthly on their sites but every third month Hull and Hessle meet together and this is in line with the staff awards.

Every 3 months the staff on each site vote in secret ballot against agreed criteria for the member of staff on a scale of 1 to 210 for the member who has over the last 3 months made the best contribution to their nursery in many ways such as: reliability/team work/help and cooperation.

This award was won for Hull for the second time, a unique occasion for the nursery since 1996 when we first opened, by Diane Boynton. Diane as we all agree has made such a positive impact on staff and parents that all are relying on her for drive and direction and as well as being very helpful and supportive to others and we all agree that she very much deserves this recognition.

The Hessle nursery award was also very much deserved as Carol Rawlings has been for some time a very regular and helpful supporter. It is true that both of these awards are for very different characters but very much the same in terms of positive actions and good relationships with all concerned and both sites are much better for their very direct and overall influential impact on the service to both.

All staff take the award very seriously and we are in discussion with all concerned to see if this award would be an indicator much more in terms of a factor influencing staff share schemes for instance but we will be back to you on this as well as our staff package very soon.

Thanks to all the staff for turning up to make their contributions and doing all they could to eat the buffet and for once be serious!!

Ray

SPECIAL NOTICE

The last 3 months award for Hessle went to Christine Ashton and her write up was not delivered personally as she was away from the nursery.

Christine is very much in the dynamic and positive influencing role in all that goes on in Hessle and Hull and in all that goes on in the nursery. Hessle would be the poorer, and the nursery in total, without her and we personally welcome all her contributions which are well received by all including the parents.

General information

With many staff summer holidays out of the way, attention now turns to Children in Need/McMillan coffee morning and all the prep for Guy Fawkes and then Christmas which will be on us soon.

We are expanding in many ways: in particular Saturday opening, and as such felt that we needed to look to the future re new staff so we had an advertisement in the Hull Daily Mail on Wednesday 10 September, and this has added to the last 6 months of record hits on our web site.
