September-October-November 2004

Welcome to Lilliput Lodge's newsletter,
just to let you know what’s been happening around the nursery!

First I would to say hello to our new members of staff Cheryl Dixon, Claire Norris, Michaela Darnell, Samantha Leaning and Lisa Hookem who you will be seeing around the nursery.

Here is an update from each room:

Ducklings - Hullo everyone!

This month the Ducklings have played with lots of different toys. We’ve explored texture toys and transport toys, played in our indoor swing, we have been colouring and painting and the older Ducklings have done lots of practice with the strollers.

For our Inside and Outside topic we have painted lots of flowers and a big tree for the outdoor display and coloured lots of toys for the indoor display.

Unfortunately due to the wet weather we’ve had recently, the Ducklings have not been able to go outside in our garden very much. However one nice day we did go outside, we had lots of fun splashing in the paddling pool and relaxing in the shade!

We also had a first birthday in our room and had a lovely afternoon singing and eating lots of sticky chocolate cake and making lots of mess!!

Finally the summer fayre was lots of fun! We had lovely weather, although that did result in a bit of sunburn for me (Hannah). I ran the raffle stall in the morning, which was very successful with so many excellent prizes, and I was on the door in the afternoon, good fun was had by all.
Bye for now!

Squirrels

Hello from Rebecca, Michaela and all the Squirrels.

The month of August has been a focus of inside and outside of the body including our bones, heart and lungs and our features.

We’ve enjoyed learning action songs such as head, shoulders, knees and toes and making blood-coloured play dough.

September is fast approaching along with a new topic, Nature and autumn.

During September we will be looking at harvest, leaves, leaves and more leaves!! We will also be looking at colours and having a go at mixing them.

October brings us the topic of Traditional Stories, where we will look at one story per week including Goldilocks and the three bears and the Three little pigs.

Before we know it, Christmas will be upon us!

On a personal note from Rebecca, I am very busy at the moment. My puppy has grown unexpectedly bigger than expected & anticipated and my rabbit has just had babies brings my total to 9… if any one wants one don’t hesitate to ask!!

My wedding plans are going well, nearly everything’s sorted and we’ve just bought the rings... awwww!!

Bumble Bees

Hello everybody we are having so much fun!

In July we went on a trip to East Park, we really enjoyed looking at all of the animals, playing on the park and then had a lovely picnic. After the picnic we did lots of running around on the grass, we were tired out when we got back!!

We really enjoyed doing our displays, which are “in my suitcase” and “teddy bears picnic”, we did lots of painting, sticking and colouring.

When the sun has been out we have had some great times in the paddling pool and running through the sprinkler!!

We are looking forward to autumn because we are going to collect leaves from the garden and do lots of creative things with them.

We have also enjoyed baking this month, making fairy buns with coloured sprinkles,

See you soon xxxx

Badgers

We have been very busy playing and having fun – we have been learning our numbers and colours in Spanish and French.

We enjoy playing in the home corner and playing in the sand.

We have had lots of creative play including Junk modelling, cutting and painting. We have even made a bar chart of how much things weigh. We are looking forward to having lots more fun in our new topic in September, which is Nature and Autumn.

Lots of love from all the Badgers xxx

Kids Club

Hello from the Kids Club.

Over the summer Kids Club have taken part in some fantastic outings and well planned theme days.

A trip to the beach was a good start to the summer with fish and chips for all, including the famous ice–cream.

Gemma has done some great wonderful activities including puppets, planting, painting, story telling and even origami.

The children had a whale of a time at the Deep, watching the sharks and the jellyfish. They drew pictures and ate jelly monsters and were very tired by the time we got back.

At the end of the summer holidays we went to see Garfield at the Odeon Cinema of which they all really enjoyed. But I was told after returning that they all enjoyed the food the best!!

Bye Bye

Just a little note from Corrine!

As you all most probably know we held our annual summer fayre on Saturday 7th August.

It was an excellent success resulting in us raising £400.00 for the Special Care Baby Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary. Not only was it a brilliant day the weather was too glorious sunshine all day.

Lots of people attended and it was lovely to see parents from Hessle who I have spoken to but not met before.

The raffle prizes were fantastic and I would like to take the opportunity to thank all the companies who donated prizes for the raffle.

There was also a bouncy castle which all the children enjoyed bouncing about on.

We also had a visit from the Fire Brigade, which was very exciting they showed the children how the equipment on the fire engine worked. They also got to have a turn on the hose, which was a lot of fun. They even had children-sized helmets to buy which the children loved.

Any advice or information you require regarding the childcare you receive or about the nursery don’t hesitate to speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help.

Thank you.
