Diane and Corrine - supporting staff and children in need

Here is an update from each room:

Ducklings
Hi from Dianne, Kerry and all the little Ducklings.

First of all we would like to say a big "welcome" to our new Ducklings - Marley, Jason, Emma, Jack, Leon Lucifer, Madalyn and Jemaine, and a very sad "Bye bye" to our special friends Sarah, Tyler, Liam and Jessica who have now moved up to the Squirrels.

We miss them so much but know that they are really enjoying themselves doing lots of fun things in Squirrels.

We have lots of fun too, in the Ducklings - we had a wonderful time at Halloween, our room looked very spooky, we made some scary ghosts and spiders and dressed up in our Halloween costumes to frighten everyone.

We're now getting ready for Christmas we have lots of great things planned. We're going to make cards and trimmings and lots of things to decorate our room and make it look really pretty.

Squirrels
Hello from Kelly and Kelly-Anne and all the cheeky little Squirrels.

We all hope you had a great summer.

This Month in the Squirrels room, we've been busy creating spooky displays from witches hats to scary bats.

We have also been creating fairytale displays and listening to our favourite fairy stories, to tie in with this month's topic.

During the past month we have said goodbye to two of our Squirrels, Brandon Bartle and Matthew Spurgeon who have moved up to the busy world of Bumble Bees, but all is not lost we have gained four new squirrels. We would like to welcome Tyler Ball, Sarah Best, Liam Williamson and Jessica Irvine. Squirrels would also like to say good luck to all those moving up throughout the nursery.

The Squirrels dressed up for Halloween and they looked fantastic in their costumes, we had lots of fun.

On Friday 7th November we are all having our photos taken.

And finally the Squirrels will be doing Christmas displays which will include handmade Christmas cards by the children and writing letters to Father Christmas because on the 23rd December he will be visiting us to make sure we've been good. So until next time we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the Squirrels.

Hello from everyone in the Kids Club
We had a great time during half term. We began the week by looking at mini-beasts and their habitats. We drew scary pictures of what we saw.

We also drew pictures of pumpkins and witches for our Halloween display.

On Tuesday we enjoyed our visit to Fort Paull, although the dentist and underground hospital were scary we loved the tanks and playground.

Thursday morning was spent making spiders and bats to hang from the ceiling. Then after lunch we walked to the Green Man bowling alley for 2 games. A good time was had by all; although the bowling balls got stuck a few times we still managed to knock many skittles down.

Friday was our Halloween party. Everyone wore very scary costumes. The day was spent playing different games. We played pass the parcel, musical statues, red letter and also told ghost stories. Prizes were given out to everyone. By the end of the day everyone had had a really scary day!

Now that the cold weather is here we are drawing many pictures of snowmen, and talking about warm winter clothes.

Nearer to Christmas we will be decorating our room ready for Santa. The children will be given the choice to decide what Christmas activities they would like to do. We will also be discussing other holidays that people celebrate around winter.

Our nursery is becoming a breast feeding friendly premises so if you want to know more about this there are leaflets in the reception are and please do not hesitate to ask any member of staff about this also we now have a breast feeding policy.

TRAINING
Lilliput Lodge are committed to training and make well use of the facilities in Hull. We are linking up with a training provider in order that we can deliver NVQ on the job training for our staff as well as others outside.

We are continuing to deliver "Setting Up a Nursery" courses possibly the last one 15th November for this year. The course attracts people from all over the country such as Birmingham and London. They are not only impressed with our nursery but with Hull as well. We are doing a one day seminar in November, in conjunction with the employment services which will be useful for people who may want to work in a nursery. This day will give them ideas of the tasks, the ways of working and what is required as an individual as well as team perspective.

Commercial elements
We are committed to doing all we can to reword staff and the general details of this are on our website. One specific item that has taken some time is that of the share items.

It has taken us a great deal of time to sort this out legally etc but on the 12th November this will be all tied up. As with other of staff benefits this will come into effect in the same way and conditions as for those mentioned. We will look to qualify giving shares to staff in an even way based on time in service, contribution to the nursery, commitment and subject and conditioned by a satisfactory appraisal in line with general agreements with staff on our existing benefits.

We see the issuing of shares as another example of involving staff in all that we do as well as encouraging the best out of staff and ensuring that they stay with us.

In order to make the nursery the S.P.E.C.I.A.L. place for your child we are putting a great deal of resources into staff support and facilities and we are still good value for money.

NURSERY FEES
There are many ways that we can help to reduce fees and we do all we can to be aware and help parents thought he many funding schemes and applications so please ask us for help and we will do all we can, in confidence.

Please note that we have teamed up with Smailes/Goldie, Gammond Evans and Charterhouse pub to be able to raise as much as we can and we will let people know how much we all have raised as soon as possible.
