January-February-March 2005
Welcome to Lilliput Lodge's first newsletter of the year. We hope you had a fantastic Christmas.
We would like to welcome our new members of staff Janette Blacker and Caroline Taylor who you will see around the nursery.
Just to let you know what's been going on around the nursery - here is an update from each room:
Ducklings News
Since joining the Ducklings room from the Squirrels we have had three fun-packed weeks. Our topic for this month has been Rhythm and Rhyme. We enjoyed making our Old McDonald Farm display and listening to lots of different nursery rhymes.
This month we have also celebrated Valentine's Day and had lots of fun making foot prints and hand prints for our Mummies' and Daddies' Valentine's Cards.
For Pancake Day, we painted our own pancakes and the older Ducklings got to have pancakes with their tea.
February brought around the start of Chinese New Year (Year of the Rooster), We also painted our own Rooster pictures.
How can we forget celebrating Hessle's 8th Birthday on Tuesday 15th February!!
We are now looking forward to another fun-packed month where we will be celebrating Mother's Day and Easter, and we will have lots of creative and exciting activities to look forward to.
Lots of love and little quacks from Caroline and the Ducklings
Squirrels
Hello from Leanne and all the Squirrels.
We have had lots of fun since last year.
We really enjoyed our topic "All About Me". We talked about our family and friends and we drew lots of beautiful pictures of our friends and family and we also drew our pets.
We had lots of fun making our room look beautiful for Valentine's Day. We 'hand-painted love hearts, glittered love hearts and we really enjoyed making pop-up Valentines Day Cards.
We are really excited about next month's topic "Easter and Spring". We are going to make Easter bonnets, Easter Cards and fluffy rabbits and chickens. We also are going to have lots of fun getting messy decorating Easter Eggs ... Yum Yum!
Good Bye from Leanne and all the Squirrels
Bumble Bees
Hello Everyone from the Bumble Bees
We have had lots of fun since Christmas, we have had fun with the topic "All About Me", doing things about all of my family and we even made door tags for our bedroom door.
We have been waiting for it to snow so we could go out and build a snowman but unfortunately up to now it has not!
We are really excited about the Easter bunny coming. We will have lots of fun activities to do including Easter Bonnets, Cards, Easter Egg hunt and we will be decorating our very own Easter Eggs.
Hope you're all looking forward to seeing our lovely work.
Lots of love from Linzi and all the Bumble Bees xxx
BadgersHello from the Badgers and Dianne.
Wow! we have had such a busy time just lately, we hardly know where to begin.
Now let's see.... we had a lot of fun in January - our topic was "All About Me", (Our favourite subject) we made door hangers for our bedrooms and painted family portraits. We learned about what foods are good for us and made fruit kebabs (yummy)
We're now in February and our new topic is "Rhythm and Rhyme". We made our own musical instruments and played along with our favourite songs, we hope you liked our displays too, we've been busy making them look nice, just for you.
There have been a lot of special events too, Pancake day - we tasted pancakes with different toppings on. We tasted noodles and prawn crackers at Chinese New Year (we even tried to use chopsticks). We all wrote our names in Chinese, and don't you think our nursery looked lovely on Valentine's Day!
A lady from the Blind Institute visited us to talk about our senses and what it would be like to be blind.
We are celebrating Lilliput Lodge's 8th Birthday and are having a big party.!
Oh and don't forget to put your name down for our sponsored walk in May, we will have fun while making money for charity. (Please see notice board for details)
Well, that's all folks xxx
