March 2004Welcome to Lilliput Lodge's Hull Newsletter, just to let you know what’s been going on around the nursery. First I would to say hello to our new badgers member Lindsey
McAdam, and also Hannah Sharpe who you will
be seeing around the nursery. Also a big Hello
to Sally–Ann Sutherland our new cook.
Here is an update from each room:DucklingsWhat a wonderful time we’ve all been having in the Ducklings room! We have been busy making lots of lovely things for our room, with Amy, Kelly–Anne and Dianne. Our topic for January was people who help us and we did lots of messy stuff like painting Fire Engine pictures and colouring Ambulances and Police Cars all good fun. We decorated our room for Chinese New Year but we didn’t take part in the food tasting because we're only just learning to use spoons and Chopsticks would be a bit ambitious! Our new topic is “Our Homes”. We have done a big display of our “Pets" Homes in the Duckling room if you would like to pop in and see it. We have some new little Duckling friends who have
recently joined us so a big welcome to Charlie,
Mollie, Joshua and Hani. We know you're
going to enjoy yourselves, because we have a lovely time. Bye, Bye! Love
from the Ducklings xxxx Squirrels RoomHello from Rebecca, Hannah and Kelly and all the little Squirrels. We have had a very busy but fun few months. We really enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year, trying lots of new foods and making masks, puppets and a big dragon! We have also enjoyed making beautiful valentines cards for our beloved during February. Over the coming months we are going to be preparing lots of Mother Day treats and celebrating St Patrick’s Day—without the Guinness of course!! With Easter just around the corner we will be decorating
eggs ……… I wonder if the Easter Bunny will leave us
a little something here at Nursery??? Bumble BeesA big hello from all the Bumble Bees. We started off the year talking about people who help us. Up on the wall we had a fantastic Postman Pat display which all the children took part in making. The children were all very excited when a fire engine came to see us, especially when they let them use the water hose!!!!! Recently we have been discussing Our Homes and the children have been making things like stained glass windows, and bubble paint houses, which they have thoroughly enjoyed. We also talked about the types of housing i.e. flats, caravans, house etc……. And still have lots of great activities coming up in the near future. Badgers Hi from all the Badgers! We did, but we are also glad to come back to Nursery; we have been having so much fun. We had a great Chinese New Year making hats, using chopsticks and even tasting Chinese food! We enjoyed making valentines cards for everyone we love. This month we have been studying Our Homes – take a
look at our fantastic display!
We have had a visit from the Fire Brigade which was great, we sat in the engine and some of us squirted the water, the fire men were very nice so we sent them a thank-you letter and some pictures. In March we are looking forward to going for a walk
to Queens Gardens for a picnic, we are going to take some crayons to draw
some pictures. Kids Club Hi from Michelle Priest. We are having a great
February half term. Planning is now in progress for the Easter Holidays, so anyone who would like to join in the fun are very welcome. We have recently finished a work experience programme in partnership with Issac Newton School. It started before Christmas and ran for about 6 weeks with two pupils coming on a Tuesday and Thursday afternoon. They assisted with the daily running of the nursery from playing through to learning; they were really good, and true professionals. We hope that they got a lot from this learning experience. The programme has finished now and to say thank–you
for our help and support they sent us a thank–you card and a box
of chocolates. On our behalf we would like to say thank–you to Issac
Newton school for working so well with us. Thank–you and we hope
to see you again in the near future.
Any advice or information you require regarding the childcare you receive or about the nursery don’t hesitate to speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help. Thank you.Gill Smith
