June-July-August 2004 Welcome to Lilliput Lodge's newsletter, just to let
you know what’s been happening around the nursery! First I would to say hello to our new members
of staff Naomi Atkinson, Hannah Bright and Katie Hepworth
who you will be seeing around the nursery. Here is an update from each room:Ducklings - Hullo everyone! We’ve been really busy in the Ducklings room just lately, having lots of fun painting, colouring and making our room look really pretty. You can come and take a look for yourselves and see our brilliant handy work! Summer is on the way and we are looking forward to playing outside on the gazebo too. (So please pack us some sun cream and hats) Bye for now On a personal note from Michelle Key: Next month I am going to be a bridesmaid for my best
friend, which I am really looking to.
Squirrels RoomHello from Rebecca and all the Squirrels. Goodness we are tired, we have been around the world and back again in our current topic, children of the world. We have learnt about four countries and what they look like, about traditional dress and the foods that are eaten in these countries. I am sure however Eskimos do eat a little more than fish. We had a lovely party celebrating the nursery’s second Birthday and hope you all enjoyed your cake. Our topic for June is Shops
and the Environment. During June we will be looking at lots of different
shops, our favourites so far been the sweet and toyshops and also our environment. On a personal note I will be attending an exhibition organised by Sirius. Sirius is a local company who gives money to small businesses. I will be going to promote the nursery and to show off some of the children's work. We will be painting, drawing, colouring and even baking buns. With the approach of July, so does summer and our
holidays. In Squirrels we will be doing lots of summery activities; making
ice-lollies and fruit salad. We will also be having water play and we will
be doing a collage of our holiday suitcases to name just a few.
Bumble BeesHello from everyone in the Bumble Bees! We’ve been busy little bees. We went on a
trip to Cruckley Farm, which was lots of fun, and we
saw all of the farm animals, and we also had a lovely picnic. We have been making milkshakes, Banana, chocolate and Strawberry. Then we had to colour in a milkshake picture to match the milkshake we had. On St George’s day everyone had a strawberry
milkshake to go with the theme red and white. We also decorated buns with
the English flag. We’ve played outside in the lovely sunshine, so basically we’ve had a fun time. Well it's time to go. Until next time - Goodbye
from Dianne and all the Bumble Bees! On a personal note from Dianne: I have been nominated for the Safe Hands Award and have been invited to the KC Stadium to the award ceremony, so thank you to all the parents who nominated me Badgers Hi from all the Badgers! The Badgers have enjoyed decorating flags of the world and
painting paper faces. We have learned to say hello in French and Spanish.
As we were so good at it we did shadow writing over French words. We have
talked about different cultures and religions and looked at photos of
different clothing. We are looking forward to our next trip in June when we will be visiting the Streetlife Museum. Bye Bye from all the Badgers
Kids ClubHi from there and hello from the Kids Club. I’m sure you're all aware that the room has been through major changes, we now have a creative area, a home corner, a games area and don’t forget our quiet area. Consisting of a book tent, Jigsaws, Computer and television. So what have we been doing lately? I guess a better question would be what haven’t we done, during the May Holiday? We had fun visiting the Streetlife Museum; we really did enjoy playing in the maze outside in the sun. We designed and made clay models, which we stuck sequins and sand on and later painted them. We then had an amazing bug day where we painted and created and baked all kinds of bugs. We finished the holiday off with a trip to Cruckley Farm for the WHOLE day; whilst we were there we completed a booklet with fun quizzes, colouring pages and questions about the farm. We are now getting ready for the six weeks holidays, booking early is advised as some trips are only allocated nine spaces. So come and enjoy the fun. We look forward to seeing you!
Any advice or information you require regarding the childcare you receive or about the nursery don’t hesitate to speak to a member of staff who will be happy to help. Thank you.Gill Smith
