Lilliput Lodge Day Nursery: Parents as Partners

Parents as Partners

Our Policy is to ensure all parents receive a warm and friendly welcome at all times. We value our parents as individuals, respecting their wishes and views encouraging them to share their skills and knowledge. Our aim is to build a positive two way, professional relationship with parents within an atmosphere of honesty and mutual respect. We welcome contributions from parents in whatever form these may take and ensure parents are aware that we are an “open door nursery” Parents are invited to events ie trips, parties etc. We encourage parents to settle their children into the nursery themselves, therefore supporting them and building relationships with the family as a whole.

We take ALL complaints seriously. These will be listened to, recorded, investigated and concluded by the Nursery's General Manager, Caroline Neale, and Suitable Person/Nursery Manager. All parents are treated equally, in accordance with our equal opportunities policy. All complaints will be dealt with and investigated within 24hrs and Parents should expect to receive a reply or conclusion letter within 5 days. Should this be any longer then ALL parents will receive a letter advising them of this on the 5th day and fully concluded within 28 days. Please address ALL complaints initially to the Nursery's General Manager, Caroline Neale.

Communication with parents is of paramount importance to us. We will liaise daily and directly with the child’s parent, taking into account the need for confidentiality, and any special needs with respect to disability, culture, race, language etc.

Initial assessments are completed with parents so as much information as possible is available about their child. A quiet, private area will always be available for discussions if required. The parent’s notice board will be a vital tool for information. Staff Photographs, a full copy of the Policies and Procedures, a copy of the Ofsted Complaints Procedure, Ofsted Certificates and Menus will be displayed permanently. Other information will be displayed on the board ie; newsletters, health issues and information of interest to parents.

Parents can have access to their own child’s developmental records at any time. When a child leaves the nursery parents will be given these as a record of their child’s time within the nursery.

All parents will be informed by a Newsletter, which is sent out annually, advising them of any meetings, parents meetings and encouraged to attend.

Any concerns that a member of staff may have regarding “special needs” will be discussed directly with the Parent, Management, and the Special Needs Co-Ordinator.

Written Daily Diaries for all children will be completed by the Children’s Key Workers/Room Leaders. Parents are encouraged to use these diaries as a two-way information tool.

The setting is working in accordance with the EYFS (Early Years Foundation Stage) framework, which supports children's learning, development and welfare. All rooms within the Nursery support the EYFS framework as this is from the age range of Birth to Five.

Your child will have their own Personal Development File, which includes:
