Lilliput Lodge Day Nursery: Sponsored Walk June 2007 - practice run

Ray optimistic at start of walk!

PRESS RELEASE:
Ray's Sponsored Walk 4theKids

Late on Friday night (29 June), I was told that the walk had been called off because of the weather so many hundreds of people were told that did not turn up.

In my wisdom, or lack of it I went ahead to attempt the 25/26 mile walk. Here I am, at the start, looking fit and well but not aware exactly what was in front of me in terms of water and water coming down as well!!

I was completely on my own - not surprising, as many of the paths were so water-logged that I needed to attempt diversions covering many metres and so adding on to the walk but still officially only 25/26 miles!

I was 2/3 miles off the finishing post but for the last two miles had so much cramp as a result of the distance and how difficult it was physically. So I am sorry, but hope all my sponsors will applaud my efforts in the worst possible conditions.

Ray sees bulls
At my last lap I was lying in a field with cramp in both legs and some 15-20 bulls looking at me, (only looking, thank God!) and for the last hour the heavens opened more and made the walking and hills much more difficult. This would look funny if I could get someone to sketch the situation... any ideas??

I will write some details tomorrow and thank many people who I hope will understand what terrible conditions they were. But thanks to all who helped to support this Viking Radio kids event.

I only saw one person at the 23rd mile post BUT I saw too many bulls - especially when I was looking up to them from the ground, which is not very calming, not to me!!

We're still looking for sponsors - bearing in mind the Charity, Ray's old age, and also that this is the 9th anniversary of his heart bypass at Castle Hill Hospital...

PLEASE HELP US TO HELP THE CHARITY

Thank you!
Ray
