Budget news for parents
(March 2006)
The Chancellor has increased working families tax credit. Details vary depending on what you earn. We will add general details as we have them, soon.
BUT vouchers have been improved and each spouse can now take £55 per week. This means that one parent is now and/or can be better off by the tax and NO savings on £55 per week, which saves over a month £88.06
Obviously, two parents can save both, if needed, for child care.
We have full details on how to save on child care fees so please ask and we will do all we can to inform you and or direct you to best effect.
- Nursery Vouchers: if you do not pay for child care in vouchers then you may be paying more than double, compared to others who use the nursery.
STAFF can give you details to seek further information.
- In addition to the vouchers there is increased support for 3-4 year old children and this increases next year as well. If your child is over three then if you have a full-time child care place you can receive approximately £1,400 off your fees. This varies very slightly between East Riding and Hull Councils. So from 5 April 2006 your fees for the days you are in can be effectively 5% less. Speak to staff to ensure that you are registered with us and or tell other parents about these two items as they could be of benefit.
I hope that this is of help.
Thank you
