Ducklings News
Hello from Lauren, Angie, Linda and all the Ducklings!
We would like to welcome all our new friends in the Ducklings and say "Goodbye" to our friends who have now moved up to the Squirrels room!
We’ve had lots of fun in our room since we last wrote to you!
In December we enjoyed a visit from Father Christmas, and got really messy making our Christmas decorations for the room. We also made Calendars, Christmas Cards and Snowmen and when we came back after Christmas we were making real snowmen!
Our topic at the moment is Shapes, Colours & Numbers. We have made a train, boat, rocket and a house out of different shapes and colours. We all liked the feel and bright coloured paint.
We have lots of nice pictures hanging from our ceiling, Spiders and snakes and we will be making a lot more. Over the next months we will be learning about Healthy Living and we will be trying different fruits and vegetables!
Bye for now from Lauren, Lisa and all the little Ducklings
Hello from Julia, Michelle, Jenni,April and all the Squirrels.
We hope you had a lovely Christmas and super New Year.
We would firstly like to welcome the new Squirrels to the room; we hope they have a fun year with us! Sadly we will miss our Squirrels who have grown too big and moved up to Bumble Bees. As well as the children, we welcome April who has joined as a Key Worker, this sadly means that Michelle will be leaving us for a short while to take a well earned rest and prepare her for the trials ahead!
We have a fun filled year ahead with many themes and ideas. The most recent one being the Chinese New Year. Some of you may have noticed the signs around the nursery asking for donations dog food/biscuits to donate to the PDSA in celebration of the Chinese Year of the Dog. Any donations will be gratefully received.
Our room displays at the moment include Elma and the Teletubbies which our children seem to love (especially La La)!! We also have an elephant which the children helped to make, and thoroughly enjoyed!
Our upcoming celebrations include Valentines Day and Pancake Day, we are also focusing on Healthy Living as a topic. This will include personal hygiene, good diet and exercise. Any ideas or feedback from parents will be gratefully received.
We have many ideas including Pancake Tasting/Making our Valentines Day cards for our little romantics!
We also have World Book Day in March which we are hoping to ask all the Squirrels to bring in their favourite book for the group to read and share together. St Patrick’s Day is March 17th. To celebrate this we are asking all our children to be green squirrels for the day by dressing in green clothes.
Fletcher's Mum will be joining us for the day as a volunteer to raise money for a charity of our choice. We appreciate your support and anyone wishing to sponsor her just ask the squirrels staff.
Well that’s it for now, feel free to give us any more ideas and join in the fun.
Bye Bye for now. from Julia, Lisa and April and all the Squirrels
Bumble Bees
Hello from Christina, Linda and all the Bumble Bees!
Christmas was a very creative month making cards, snowmen, etc.
The topic for January was Colours, Numbers and Shapes. Please look at our notice board to see what we have done.
In the month of February we are going to be learning even more about numbers.
For the Chinese New Year and with it being the Year of The Dog we had a very special visitor to the nursery: Harvey (Dulux Dog) which was very exciting. We hope you saw our lovely display in the foyer of the nursery which we have decorated with lanterns and all sorts of other fun things which link in with The Chinese New Year.
Some of our friends have moved up to the Badgers and some of our friends from the Squirrels are coming to join us.
Bye for now! Love - Christina, Linda and all the Bumble Bees xx
Badgers
Hello from Becky, Caroline and all the Badgers!
In the Badgers room we have been doing a lot of interesting activities. In December we made stained glass decorations for the windows and we made snow flakes by cutting white paper into patterns which we then observed the children’s scissors control. We drew on tiles which we then made into calendars which promoted their imaginative skills. Through this, some of the children were able to draw their family and one of them drew a picture of her newborn baby sister.
We also took part in the Christmas Song Show which improved the children’s language skills.
During January we focused on the topic titled All About Me. The children made portraits of themselves. For our story time we are reading a book titled The Gruffalo which encourages the children to learn new words and to enjoy the story time.

We have made a Chinese New Year display and have been learning Chinese writing.
In February we shall be focusing on number recognition and we will be doing more mark making. For our creative activities we shall be making Valentines Cards.
We have lots more fun filled activities to come!
Bye for now! Becky, Caroline and the Badgers
Hello from Kids Club!
I can’t believe it's newsletter time again. Well, I have been in Kids Club sorting out ideas for fun things to do.
We are going to be creative this year. We’re making a junk model circus; we’re going to be face painting and dough model making. We are also going to be learning art of balloon modelling (hope we don’t burst many). We are also going to be learning the art of quilling.
Well can’t stop now - lots of ideas to think of.
Love Kaz x.
